Menopause & Perimenopause Treatment

Woman meditating outsideThe history of natural menopause treatment is as old as Chinese Medicine itself, this includes over 2000 years in experience and wisdom. While each woman has different menopause symptoms, many will experience the effects of decreased estrogen and progesterone. When this hormonal change occurs menopause is defined by three stages:

  1. Peri-menopause – typically 40-50, the time before Menopause.
  2. Menopause – the main hormonal transition period.
  3. Post-Menopause – the time following 12 months of no menstrual period.

With a variety of symptoms occurring during all three stages, many women have difficulty managing these changes on their own and find that Acupuncture is very helpful when going through this transition.  Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture, is a highly effective and hormone-free method to relieve the discomfort associated with all stages and symptoms of menopause.

At Meridian Health Clinic, we offer relaxing treatments and expert guidance through the whole process.  Our acupuncturists specialize in women’s health, and as such, we offer the best possible care in a peaceful and welcoming environment.

The initial appointment includes a consultation with your acupuncturist, a chance for us to get to know you and address your questions and concerns, followed by your first treatment which lasts about 30 minutes.

After the consultation and treatment, we will also provide you with a natural menopause treatment plan for follow up visits. Most people start to see improvement in their symptoms after the first week of treatments.  A full course of treatment for menopause generally lasts 6 to 8 weeks. Most people find treatments to be extremely relaxing – and relief usually begins after the first visit.
