Low Back Pain and Sciatic Pain
Low back pain and sciatica can be reversed and often eliminated with the proper treatments and strengthening exercises. Acupuncture therapy can help to break the cycle of muscle tension, inflammation and pain by promoting a healing response in the body.
Common low back pain symptoms include: pain on extension (reaching down), sciatic nerve radiation, dull & achy back muscles, discomfort or weakness in one or both sides of the lumbar or gluteal regions. Lower back problems effect up to 70% of the population worldwide; If you are part of the 70% suffering with low back pain, consider acupuncture treatment as an important tool for your healing. Acupuncture can be done alone or together with chiropractic care.
A new study compared acupuncture to conventional lower back pain treatments. The German acupuncture study examined outcomes of 1000+ patients with chronic low back pain. These patients were treated with: 1.) traditional acupuncture, 2.) sham acupuncture or 3.) a Western approach (drugs, physical therapy, and exercise). This study was the largest comparison of acupuncture vs. conventional non-surgical Western treatment for lower back pain to-date. In conclusion, the study found that Acupuncture is more effective than conventional Western lower back pain treatments
Researcher Heinz Endres, MD, states:
“Patients experienced not only reduced pain intensity, but also reported improvements in the disability that often results from back pain, and therefore in their quality of life. Acupuncture represents a highly promising and effective treatment option for chronic back pain.”
