Depression and Anxiety – Acupuncture Treatment

Over 7 million people in the United States are negatively impacted by depression and its various presentations.  In certain cases, Western antidepressant drugs can be helpful, however, there are other effective treatment options.  One such treatment option is a combination of Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine.  This traditional approach has over 2000 years of usage and has proven to be a very effective alternative to treat depression, anxiety, stress-induced fatigue and related emotional conditions.

In treating depression, Chinese Medicine looks to treat the “root” cause of the condition – in this context, the “root” is defined as the organ imbalance(s) which lies underneath the obvious symptoms.  When a correct root diagnosis is made, the results are often rapid and lasting.  Patients can expect real and lasting relief starting in 3 to 6 visits.  Almost immediately, when persons with depression receive acupuncture they generally experience far less anxiety and insomnia in their daily life.  In addition, patients have more energy and often rediscover a generalized sense of well-being.  Once the depression has resolved patients will usually continue doing very well, even when the herbal and acupuncture treatments are discontinued.
